Yellowstone National Park! Old Faithful (above)! These were what Meher wanted to see. So we drove south through Montana to the NW corner of Wyoming and the Park. We got there in the late afternoon, and pretty much just in time to see Old Faithful do its thing. Then we walked around and looked at some lesser geysers and these mud pots (above). After that we got some supper and then headed for the eastern entrance, hoping to find somewhere to spend the night along the way.

It was a long drive, mostly in the dark, before we found someplace. Nice enough, but as we discovered in the morning, pretty expensive. After that, we just drove East across Wyoming, me with my roadside geology book trying to follow along in the book as we went. This place (right) came along sometime later, somewhere beyond Pierre SD.

The catamaran ferry that crosses Lake Michigan

Our last night out was in Milwaukee WI, as we had a place on the Lake Express, a high-powered catamaran car ferry that took us across Lake Michigan in a couple of hours. Not as nice as the S.S. Badger, out of Manitowoc, that I've taken a couple of other times, but much faster. So much so that we were able to reach home shortly after midnight of the same day!
