The monster refrigerator
The condo was functional when we moved in, but we made several changes to make it work for us. One big renovation was to put in a range hood over the stove. We found a very patient renovator with similar mindset as ours, so rather than rip out and throw away one of the cabinets, he cut it and installed it above the range hood. It was an ecologically sound job that did not cost an arm and a leg. Another major thing we did was to get rid of a monster fridge that came with the condo, and for this job we recruited our offspring. Adam and John Simon disassembled the doors of the fridge, took out the apartment door, and managed to push the beast out. We donated the fridge and one more appliance (dishwasher) to a charity.
